Emerging Asia was the fairytale story to emerge from the economic horror that engulfed much of the world in 2008 and 2009. Even at the height of the crisis key emerging Asian economies made headlines for extraordinary macro growth numbers. But the question frequently asked is whether emerging Asian nations, especially China, will be able to sustain their pace of growth.
In this timely book, Asian expert Aaron Chaze asks whether the booming Asian economies have what it takes to move away from an export-led, external-trade dominated economy and truly embrace a free-market philosophy. The Asia Investor provides a solid framework for analyzing investment opportunities across the region and picking potential winners. Asia is buoyed by several trends that drive these opportunities and it is the analysis of these trends that forms the core of this book.

Emerging Asia was the fairytale story to emerge from the economic horror that engulfed much of the world in 2008 and 2009. But the question frequently asked is whether emerging Asian nations, especially China, will be able to sustain their pace of growth. Asia is buoyed by several trends that drive these opportunities and it is the analysis of these trends that forms the core of this book. Some of the key trends analyzed are:

rapidly rising standard of living

large and growing middle class

unprecedented pace of urbanization

growing trade links between key Asian nations

evolution of a robust pan-Asian financial infrastructure

political stability and growing institutionalization of these economies

growing privatization

infrastructure spending

growing integration with global industrial and services networks

Some of the trends can be observed and tested now while some trends can be tested over a period of time. Anyone with an interest in investing in Asia will find this book an invaluable resource.

The quick bounce back of Asian economies, particularly China and India, from the global financial crisis of 2008 has raised expectations that many of these economies have de-linked from the prosperous West and will provide leadership to global growth in the early part of the 21st century. Where Asian economies are headed over the next several decades and what factors will drive them or derail them are far more important questions for investors now than they were ever in the past. The Asia Investor is a highly readable guide for those seeking answers to such questions. The author details the key trends and themes that underpin Asia's re-emergence as a significant, probably dominant, part of the global economy. The book is well researched and written in a lucid style and is a must read for those investing or contemplating investment anywhere in Asia.
Rajashekar Iyer
Managing Director, Securities Analysis (I) Pvt Ltd

What Aaron Chaze did in his first book for investors in India, he accomplishes again with The Asian Investor. A great read and valuable resource that covers the Asian investment landscape-: historical perspective, current drivers, and future investment themes- to enable investors to capture the next great Asian investment opportunity.

Howard J. Atkinson
President, Horizons Exchange Traded Funds Inc. and Author of The New Investment Frontier III : A Guide to Exchange Traded Funds for Canadians"

For many investors, Asia is a fashion statement. Hot when other places are not, seasoned enough so there will never be another Asian crisis. Aaron Chaze is also positive on Asia, but walks you through the hype with detailed examples so you can build a framework for your own judgment and recognize the pitfalls. He gets you to places Western stock pickers fail to penetrate. Chaze will keep you interested and grounded.

Robert J. Dowling
Former Managing Editor, BusinessWeek International and Visiting Professor, Tsinghua University, Beijing

The Asia Investor is both an analytical and riveting account of the vast investment opportunity in Asia. While explaining this opportunity to a global investing audience, Aaron Chaze goes beyond the hype of short-term economic and market phenomenon and develops a thematic framework that can be used to identify winners over the medium and long- term.

Manas Chakravarty
Consulting Editor, Mint
