JUDITH A. MUSCHLA has taught mathematics in South River, New Jersey, for over twenty-five years. She has been a member of the state Standards Review Panel for the Mathematics Core Curriculum Content Standards in New Jersey. GARY ROBERT MUSCHLA taught at Appleby School in Spotswood, New Jersey, for more than twenty-five years. Judith and Gary have coauthored several books, including The Algebra Teacher's Activities Kit, Hands-On Math Projects with Real Life Applications, The Math Teacher's Book of Lists, and Math Starters. ERIN MUSCHLA teaches 8th grade math and algebra at Monroe Township Middle School in Monroe, New Jersey, and has collaborated with Judith and Gary on three previous math books.

Teaching the Common Core Math Standards with Hands-On Activities
The Common Core State Standards for Mathematics were developed to help teachers give students a thorough knowledge of math at each grade level, which will in turn enable them to move on to higher mathematics with competence and confidence. Teaching the Common Core Math Standards with Hands-On Activities is designed to provide teachers with the information, strategies, and activities they need to instruct their students in all of the standards for Grades 6–8.
Teaching the Common Core Math Standards with Hands-On Activities contains

Over 100 activities correlated to the Common Core State Math Standards

Guidance for supporting students as they learn to apply their understanding of math concepts and skills, develop proficiency in calculations, and learn to think abstractly

Methods for encouraging students to collaborate with other students, utilize technology, communicate ideas about math both orally and in writing, and gain an appreciation of the significance of math to real life

This essential resource includes a wealth of tools and activities that will help students learn to think critically, use mathematical reasoning, and employ a variety of problem-solving strategies.
"A must-have for anyone concerned with today's middle school mathematics education. The authors give outstanding, hands-on, and technologically appropriate activities that support the instruction of the CCSS standards." —PAT MOWER, associate professor, Department of Mathematics and Statistics, Washburn University, Kansas
"Once again the Muschla writing team has produced a timely, comprehensive, resource book for teachers. Activities provide reinforcement and enrichment of concepts and skills already introduced and developed in the classroom, and the authors skillfully stress oral and written communication among students, along with the use of instructional web sites and real-world applications." —FRANCES M. THOMPSON, professor emerita, Texas Woman's University
