Acknowledgments

Thank you to Melissa Brewer, Jamey Bowe, and Shelley Pecha for contributing CAD illustrations to this and previous editions. Thank you to Emily Pingel for contributing illustrations and renderings to this edition.

A special thank you to Amy Odum at Wiley for her quick, helpful replies to my many questions. Thank you also to Todd Green, Kalli Schultea, Raj Suthan, Beula Jaculin, and Purvi Patel at Wiley.

When I asked Courtney what he might want included in these acknowledgments, this was his reply:

“It is time to think about the future and acknowledge those who will, of necessity, be required to design more sustainably. It is time to think ahead and design spaces that will stand the test of time. There is a lot to be done.”

I agree with Courtney, it is time to work to design more sustainably and to think about future generations. It is also time to work to achieve equality in access to safe and healthy living spaces. I have been encouraged to see design students embrace sustainability and equality, and with those things to seek a better future.
