<b>Laura Golding</b> is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist and Lead Tutor for the NHS-funded North West (England) Clinical Psychology Continuing Professional Development Scheme. She has had a long-standing interest in and involvement with pre- and post-qualification training in clinical psychology. She is a member of the BPS Board of Examiners in Clinical Psychology and Committee on Training in Clinical Psychology and also of the Division of Clinical Psychology's CPD Sub-Committee. Her clinical work is with adults with a learning disability.<br /> <p><b>Ian Gray</b> is Clinical Director of the Lancaster University Doctoral Programme in Clinical Psychology. He has a significant role in professional training locally, regionally and nationally. He coordinates, jointly with Laura Golding, the Professional Issues teaching on the Lancaster University Doctoral Programme. His interest in CPD also stems from his responsibility for clinical psychology supervisor training, and his management responsibilities within the NHS.</p>

This handbook provides a practical guide to continuing professional development for clinical psychologists. Written by a group of practising clinical psychologists and experts in continuing professional development (CPD), it takes a 'hands-on' approach, addressing the many practical issues involved in identifying, evaluating and meeting CPD needs.<br /> <p>The volume starts by outlining the importance of life-long learning for clinical psychologists, taking into account the context of statutory regulation and mandatory CPD requirements. It goes on to explore the CPD needs of clinical psychologists at different stages of their careers, giving examples of good practice. It also describes some of the CPD structures required in services, the outcomes of CPD activity in practice, the work of the British Psychological Society, the Division of Clinical Psychology, and special interest groups and faculties in the field, and it looks at the NHS Knowledge and Skills Framework and its implications for applied psychologists. The book concludes by considering likely future developments in CPD for clinical psychologists.</p>
