<p><b>Nancy A. Hewitt</b>, PhD, is Emeritus Professor of History and Women's and Gender Studies at Rutgers University. She is the author of several books and edited collections, including <i>Southern Discomfort: Women's Activism in Tampa, Florida, 1880s-1920s</i>, <i>Radical Friend: Amy Kirby Post and Her Activist Worlds,</i> and <i>No Permanent Waves: Recasting Histories of U.S. Feminism.</i> She is also co-author of <i>Exploring American Histories: A Survey with Sources</i>.</p> <p><b>Anne M. Valk</b>, PhD, is Professor of History at the CUNY Graduate Center and Executive Director of the American Social History Project/Center for Media and Learning. She wrote the award-winning, <i>Radical Sisters: Second-Wave Feminism and Black Liberation in Washington, D.C.</i> and co-authored <i>Living with Jim Crow: African Americans and Memories of the Segregated South</i>.
