<b>J. Östman, MD, PhD,</b> is Associate Professor of Internal Medicine, Karolinska Institute. Dr. ֳtman was formerly head of the Center for Metabolism and Endocrinology, Huddinge University Hospital. He is past Chairman of the Swedish Society for Diabetology, and author of about 300 publications, including original articles, reviews, books, and book chapters. Major research topics are regulation of human adipose tissue metabolism, diabetes epidemiology, and transplantation of insulin producing tissue in human diabetes.<br /> <br /> <b>Mona</b> <b>Britton, MD, PhD</b>, is Professor of Medicine, Karolinska Institute, Stockholm, Sweden. Dr. Britton is Senior Medical Advisor at the Swedish Council on Technology Assessment in Health Care (SBU), Stockholm.<br /> <br /> <b>Egon Jonsson, PhD,</b> Leader of the WHO Health Evidence Network, and former Director of SBU, is Professor of Health Economics at the Department of Medicine,<br /> Karolinska Institute in Stockholm. He is a member of the U.S. National<br /> Academy of Sciences, Institute of Medicine and, for 20 years, Co-editor of the International Journal of Technology Assessment in Health Care.
