Stephen L. Isaacs is a partner in the consulting firm of Isaacs/Jellinek in San Francisco, California, and president of Health Policy Associates, also in San Francisco. He formerly was a professor in the Columbia University School of Public Health. <br /> James R. Knickman is vice president for research and evaluation at The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation in Princeton, New Jersey. He formerly was a professor of nonprofit administration in the Wagner School of New York University.
