He demonstrates that in most cases current practices do not provide for an assessment of ecological risk, and moreover, that endeavoring to assess ecological risk is actually an unnecessary undertaking at conventional hazardous waste sites. <b>Lawrence Tannenbaum</b> (United States Public Health Command, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland, USA) is a certified senior ecologist and a full-time health risk assessor working for the U.S. Army, with a previous (Superfund Program) history at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. He is the inventor of a patented ecological assessment field-truthing method, and is an associate editor of a Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry journal.
